Recycle Plastics Lids

Use plastic lids as coasters in the fridge to save the shelves from becoming a sticky mess. Toss them in the dishwasher when they get dirty. Corral drips from the paintbrush. Cut a slit in the middle of a plastic lid that is as wide as the paintbrush. Insert the handle of the paintbrush through the slit and pull the narrow part of the handle all the way through.

Replace a drain stopper. Put a plastic lid over the drain in the sink or tub if the stopper is missing. Prevent watermarks on furniture from houseplants. Use plastic lids as coasters for small, potted plants like African violets.

Make patties from bulk ground beef and place each one on a plastic lid. Stack them, seal in a plastic bag and freeze. Use the pre-formed burgers and separate them with ease when the grill is hot. Personalize coasters for kids drinks. Encourage the kids to use the coasters and help keep their drinks from getting mixed up. Seal up a smelly bag of trash when there's no twist-tie in sight. Cut a slit in a plastic lid, slip it over the gathered top of the bag and pull it through to seal the bag tight.
